The Essentials is the main entry point into Squidmar Color: a selection of 30 colors designed to paint virtually any miniature with a single set. It builds on the experience gained from previous Squidmar and Vallejo selections, while introducing a revised palette and paints developed specifically for the new range. The colors are easier to mix, more saturated, and capable of creating greater visual impact. The selection can be used for wargaming miniatures, display pieces, and role-playing characters without the need for an extensive collection. BACKGROUND Squidmar Color is the result of several years of collaboration between Vallejo and Emil Nyström and Lukas Holmström, the creators of Squidmar Miniatures. The project began with a clear ambition: to develop a range that meets the real needs of miniature painters without requiring them to collect hundreds of different colors. The range has been created for both newcomers to the hobby and experienced painters looking for intense, reliable colors that are easy to combine. The names and character of the range are part of its creative universe 48 ACRYLIC COLORS The 48 acrylic paints form the foundation of Squidmar Color. The selection was not created simply to fill out a color wheel, but to offer colors with a clear purpose and predictable mixing relationships. Their intensity and coverage support everything from solid base coats to highlights, shadows, gradients, and glazes. The range makes color selection more intuitive. The shades have been designed to work in harmony, helping painters maintain a coherent color scheme and create clean mixes without losing saturation. 7 METALLIC COLORS The seven metallic-effect colors bring Vallejo’s experience in developing metallic paints for miniatures to Squidmar Color. They offer fine particles, good coverage, and a defined finish. They can be used on their own, mixed together, or combined with inks and acrylics to create color variations, shadows, and reflections. 5 FLUORESCENT COLORS The five fluorescent colors are formulated to bring luminosity and maximum intensity to focal points, magical effects, energy, weapons, markings, and army details. Their use goes beyond direct application: they can also be added to mixes or applied as glazes to increase the vibrancy of other colors. 12 INKS The 12 inks have been developed around the way Emil and Lukas paint.
